
Chief residents in the Graduate Medical Education program at Northside Hospital Gwinnett have been chosen for the upcoming academic year.
These seven students will complete their residencies in 2026.
“We congratulate those rising third-year Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residents who have been appointed as chief residents for the 2025-2026 academic year,” Dr. Mark Darrow, designated institutional officer and director of graduate medical education, said.
“It recognizes their commitment to excellence in medicine and their leadership abilities.”
Internal Medicine
Shreya Mahadevan, MBBS, is a native of the U.S. who spent much of her life in southern India. Dr. Mahadevan has an interest in infectious diseases and hopes to pursue an interest in the same.
Ishan Panchal, D.O., spent most of his life in Gainesville, Florida. He is a graduate of the University of Florida and the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Panchal’s medical interests include infectious disease, critical care and lifestyle medicine.
Omama “Omi” Rahmany, D.O., was raised in Lawrenceville. She has degrees from the University of Georgia and Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Rahmany’s interests of palliative and hospice care led her to pursue training in internal medicine, and after her residency, she plans to apply for a palliative care fellowship. She hopes to practice in the Gwinnett County area.
Sidra Shakil, D.O., is a Georgia native who has lived in Gwinnett County for most of her life. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia and the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Shakil’s work as an undergraduate research assistant in the UGA Child Attention and Autism Research Evaluation Lab built her interest in research and she also was a clinical research coordinator for the Center for Rare Neurological Diseases.
Ashley Turek, D.O., was born in Atlanta and reared in Fayetteville. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee. Her medical interests include patient advocacy and lifestyle medicine.
Family Medicine
Aissatou “Aisha” Ndiaya, M.D., was born in Atlanta and she grew up in Hall County. She graduated from Brenau University and the Ross University School of Medicine. She has worked in the medical field as a scribe and a simulation teaching assistant, and has contributed to Cleveland Clinic gynecology research, before coming to Northside Gwinnett GME. Dr. Ndiaya’s medical interests include patient advocacy in maternal health and working with underserved medical communities.
Knox Young, M.D., is from Newcastle, Washington. He is a graduate of Albany Medical College in New York. Dr. Young is interested in family medicine due to the broad scope of the field, and he has an interest in sports medicine.
