Athletic trainers pitch in at All-Star Week

The Major League Baseball All-Star Game brought a host of activities to Atlanta in July, and Northside athletic trainers were a big part of the action.

Source Sports Medicine, a Northside Hospital affiliate, provided athletic training coverage for MLB’s youth showcase tournaments: The Commissioner’s Cup and the Jennie Finch Classic. Both were part of the festivities of All-Star Week, July 10-15.

The tournaments feature top-tier baseball and softball players aged 17 and younger from MLB Youth Academies across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, as well as Jennie Finch softball programs.

Operated under the umbrella of MLB Develops, the MLB Youth Academy initiative is designed to provide underserved communities with access to high-quality baseball and softball instruction, academic support and mentorship. The Source experience team ensured every athlete received expert care and injury prevention support throughout the week, helping them perform at their best on the national stage.

The event opened July 10 with opening ceremonies at the Lovett School in Atlanta. Youth tournaments were held at Lovett, North Atlanta High School and Georgia Tech.
