For a decade, Northside Hospital has worked with Bicycle Ride Across Georgia to boost cycling in the Peach State.
Franklin Johnson, the BRAG director, said the group’s mission is to provide “affordable, family-oriented bicycle tours in and around the state of Georgia.” He noted that rides aren’t races. They’re a means to get beginners, experts and all other types of riders on the road.
“We promote healthy living across the state and give people an avenue to get and stay in shape through our training, rides and motivation along the way,” he said.
That includes the Big BRAG, presented by Northside Hospital. This year the ride starts May 31 in Rome and continues through Cartersville, Jasper, Dawsonville, Clarkesville and Toccoa to an end June 7 at Lake Hartwell.
“The partnership with Northside has allowed us to invest in ride improvements, more rides and to reach and attract new cyclists to participate,” Johnson said. “Northside’s sponsorship has led to a healthier Georgia with their input on our training and diet programs as well as support from their sports and orthopedic practices.
“Their generous donation of lifesaving first aid and medical equipment has also helped us host the safest rides possible. we look forward to continuing to serve Georgia and leading the cycling community towards a healthier future.”
